Position Summary

This internship is designed as an immersive founder experience for a current student studying Marketing, PR, or Communications who seeks to build, lead, and ship real-world campaigns. Rather than a traditional support role, this position treats the intern as a Founder-in-Residence, with ownership of storytelling, brand voice, audience engagement, and go-to-market communications that amplify youth mental health innovation.


The role enables the intern to work within a high-trust, fast-paced environment where their contributions will directly shape public-facing narratives, strategic partnerships, and the growth trajectory of Convalesce Labs. Beyond this, they will play a direct role in influencing systems, leading global campaigns, and shaping outcomes that reimagine how youth access and experience mental health care. They won't just build marketing assets—they'll help architect cultural change. Key Responsibilities

As a Founder-in-Residence (Marketing, Communications & PR Track), you will not be

limited to marketing execution—you’ll step into the multidimensional role of a startup

founder-in-training.Your responsibilities will span across storytelling, community

engagement, growth strategy, and real-world venture building.


Marketing, Storytelling & Campaign Leadership

- Lead or co-lead major marketing and communications campaigns, from concept to launch 

- Craft compelling narratives across media formats—decks, microsites, social media, blogs, video scripts

- Own brand voice, tone, and messaging for B2C, B2B, and youth-facing audiences

- Plan, create, and distribute content for Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and emerging platforms

- Contribute to launch strategies and messaging for new products, features, and programs


Thought Leadership & Public Engagement

- Write and co-author founder-led content, op-eds, and advocacy pieces

- Support preparation for media interviews, speaking engagements, youth panels, and keynotes

- Represent Convalesce Labs at conferences, pitch events, and exhibitions, both virtual and in-person

- Engage in public relations, media pitching, and thought leadership positioning

- Support the development of a strong digital presence for the company and its co-

founders


Product & Venture Development

- Participate in user testing, co-design workshops, and product development sprints

- Translate user and field insights into product positioning and messaging

- Collaborate with product, design, and research teams to ensure alignment between features and user narratives


Fundraising & Grant Strategy

- Play a critical role in crafting fundraising materials: investor pitch decks, one-pagers, communications strategy, and tailored follow-up documentation

- Participate in all stages of fundraising: mock investor pitches, real fundraising calls, VC or grant meetings, and data room preparation

- Support the identification, narrative development, and submission of grants from public agencies, philanthropies, youth innovation funds, or startup accelerators

- Help track, document, and communicate fundraising outcomes, impact metrics, and startup milestones for use in updates, reporting, and marketing

- Actively engage in fundraising efforts by: Reaching out to aligned partners, funders, and ecosystem players, Practicing and delivering informal and formal investor pitches, Building relationships with potential angel investors, youth VCs, social impact funds, and community backers

- Contribute to building a culture of storytelling that invites capital, community, and credibility.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Networking, Representation & Travel

- Attend local, national, and international events as a startup representative (travel opportunities may be provided)

- Engage directly with stakeholders, partners, youth leaders, and funders

- Help identify and build strategic partnerships and cross-sector collaborations

- Contribute to ecosystem engagement, mapping, and influencer/partner outreach


Leadership, Learning & Ownership

- Work directly with the founding team, contributing to core decisions and sprint cycles

- Own your initiative: set KPIs, timelines, and creative strategy

- Be a visible member of our youth-led team—a builder, not a bystander

- Participate in retrospectives, growth check-ins, and founder rituals

- Contribute to a legacy project that lives on beyond your residency


Education/Qualities

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in one of the following fields:

- Marketing

- Public Relations

- Communications

- Media & Journalism

- Strategic Design

- Creative Industries or a related discipline

Bonus: Concurrent involvement in an entrepreneur club, student startup, or portfolio-building initiative


Experience/Skills

Essential:

- Currently studying (or recently completed) a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Media, Journalism, Strategic Design, or a related field

- Strong storytelling and content creation skills (written, visual, or verbal)

- Proficiency with digital tools such as Canva, Figma, Notion, Google Workspace, or similar

- Demonstrated initiative, self-leadership, and the ability to own and ship projects

- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships across youth, professional, and community stakeholders

- High level of comfort with ambiguity, iteration, and feedback loops

- Personal or direct lived experience of a mental illness, including mental health challenges/diagnosis/service use and an experience of recovery and an understanding of the consequent impacts of mental illness.

- Passion for youth empowerment, mental health innovation, social justice, or mission-

driven ventures
